Local sources from the desert town of Ubari, southwestern Libya, confirmed that two children died in the past few days because of German measles, also known as Rubella.

The sources added that the death toll is likely to rise due to the spread of the disease in the townwhere about seven incidents among children were recorded to date.

The sources confirmed that the health situation in the city is likely to worsen after the only hospital in the town closed its doors.

A number of Ubari doctors sent an urgent distress call to the governments in Tripoli and Al-Bayda to intervene and contain this deadly disease.
