The “Revolution of the Poor” movement in Sabha has called for a protest to demand the reopening of the city's airport, which was reopened earlier this month, after six years of closure.

The movement issued a statement, calling on "those who care" for the southern region to gather in front of the city's theater, on Monday morning, to protest against the closing of the only air outlet in the south.

It expressed surprise at the step to close the airport, accusing those behind the decision of trying "to humiliate" the southern community and considered the act an abuse and exploitation of the suffering of the people in the south.

It is worth noting that Sabha Airport received on September 16 the first commercial flight for six years coming from Mitiga Airport of Tripoli, after it was closed back in 2014 due to tribal clashes in its vicinity.
