The spokesman of the Tripoli-based House of Representatives (HoR), Asaad Al-Shirtaa has said that the HoR's internal regulations stipulate that revoking the membership of any deputy elected by the people needs to be voted by an absolute majority of the members of the HoR.

“The procedures for revoking the membership of any deputy are within the competence of the HoR collectively and in a valid session with a full quorum”, Al-Shirtaa added in a statement to the Libyan News Agency.

The statement came in response to Aqilah Saleh's letter regarding the removal of membership of 35 members, as Al-Shirtaa described it as “political and illegal maneuver”.
