The Management Authority of the Man-Made River Project (MMRA) announced the initiation of water pumping into the Al-Hasawna system in ٍSahil Jufra on Saturday, following a stoppage of almost a week.

The MMRA indicated that water pumping has begun from the river through the central and eastern channels, confirming that it is expected to reach the towns and cities following the interruption, with success.

It indicated that the river’s water supply had ceased in the western and southern regions of the country after armed men, who were led by Abdullah Sanussi’s daughter, threatened to sabotage the water network in an attempt to secure her father’s release, who is a main suspect in the ominous Abu Salim prison massacre during the Gadaffi era.
