Representatives of the Tabu in the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) and the Supreme Council of Amazigh in Libya called on their people to boycott the referendum on the constitution.

In a statement Saturday, the representatives insisted on their rejection of the current draft constitution for what they called “its violation of consensus stated in the constitutional declaration,” bearing the legislative and executive authorities the legal responsibility for pressing ahead to adopt “a racial constitution,” that will have a destabilizing effect on the country, as they put it.

The House of Representatives is due to hold a meeting Monday to issue a referendum law on the draft constitution.
