The International Committee of the Red Cross said in a statement on Thursday that the spread of the Coronavirus, along with the continuing conflict, are deepening the economic crisis in Libya.

The statement added that the Coronavirus cases have multiplied more than 15 fold in less than two months in Libya, with cases jumping from 571 in June, to in excess of 9,000 cases at present.

The committee stated that more than half a million citizens are in need of healthcare-related assistance at a crucial time, when conflict, the Coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis threaten to plunge hundreds of thousands of civilians into a state of chaos.
