Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his hope that the Libyan elections will proceed as scheduled and succeed in stabilizing the situation in the country.

Putin made his comments at a press conference following his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday, in which they discussed at length the regional files, including Libya.

Putin said he is in contact with all players, including key EU countries and Turkey. He expressed hope to find solutions that suit all parties and bring lasting peace and stability in Libya.

It is noteworthy that the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee arrived on Wednesday in Moscow to discuss Russia's contribution to the evacuation of foreign troops from Libya.
