The Public Prosecution has ordered the imprisonment of the director of Tripoli’s Tax Authority, pending investigations, over corruption allegations.

The Office of the Attorney General stated that the Anti-Corruption Prosecution of the Tripoli Appeals Court considered the charges against the accused, including illegally obtaining funds valued at 250,000 dinars from the department's treasury.

It added that preliminary investigations proved that the accused had committed the aforementioned charges, in addition to charges that he had used forged banking cheques to cover for the documentary cycle.

The Public Prosecution recently ordered the imprisonment of a number of officials in various sectors and departments in the country, and charged them with corruption, forgery and harming public interest.
