Several neighborhoods in Tripoli witnessed night protests on Sunday and Monday, to express their anger over the long hours of power cuts that plunged most parts of the capital into darkness.

Residents from Al-Hay Al-Islami and Ghout Al-Shaal neighborhoods closed the roads, others burned tires.

Many parts of Tripoli get only 4 to 12 hours of electricity a day.

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) justified the power outage as a result of the armed confrontations taking place south of Tripoli.
