A number of residents of the city of Misrata and Benghazi IDPs protested in Misrata to demand the right of displaced persons to return to their homes in the eastern region.

The protesters chanted slogans asserting their right to return to their homes and called to stand with Derna in the siege imposed on the city by the Dignity Operation militias for nearly three years now, demanding to spare civilians the scourge of war and stressing the unity and social structure of the Libyan society.

Tens of thousands of residents of Benghazi and other cities in the eastern region have been displaced from their cities since 2014 because of their rejection of the Dignity Operation; most of these displaced people currently live in Tripoli, Misrata and other cities in the western region.
