The Presidential Council issued a statement denouncing the current military escalation in eastern Libyan city of Derna, calling on the escalating parties to avoid the city the destruction and civilians the bloodshed.

The PC urged the elders of the city and its neighboring towns and districts to engage in efforts to settle down the fighting through dialogue and wisdom.

The PC's statement also said that the warring parties still have a chance to go back and undo all current military escalation so the city and its population can avoid war.
