Consultations were held between the Presidential Council (PC) and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on the United Nations Strategic Framework (UNSF) in Libya for the period 2019-2020.
The UNSMIL explained that the UNSF constitutes a renewed partnership between the UN and the Government of Libya, and aims to work towards a more sustainable path to development, prosperity, peace, and security.
The UNSF aims at decreasing humanitarian aid dependency by developing the capacity of state institutions to respond to the crisis.
The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Maria Ribeiro, stressed that the main objective of the United Nations is to support the Libyan government to achieve its national priorities.
