Italian President Sergio Mattarella said that the Italian military mission stationed in Libya is of great importance and a clear sign of friendship for the Libyan people.

He thanked the mission for its continued work despite the difficulties they are facing due to the existing tension in the country.

Mattarella said that the positive developments regarding the prospects for stability in Libya are of key importance for his country and the entire Mediterranean region, according to the Italian Nova news agency.

In a previous statement, the Italian Ministry of Defence said that the Italian Bilateral Mission for Assistance and Support (MIASIT), launched in 2018, had a commitment to building strong capabilities for the Libyan forces through qualification and training programs.
