The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) confirmed the return of the Gulf power steam station in Sirte to service after the completion of maintenance work on the first unit, which was brought to halt last week for technical reasons.

The company clarified Wednesday that all lines of the first unit underwent maintenance service, indicating that the station's productivity will rise progressively to reach its normal rate of 350 megawatts.

The GECOL's Information Office has announced earlier a decline in the electric power production to 5500 MW with consumption exceeding 7 thousand MW during the cold weather period.
