Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj received on Saturday, at his residence in the Italian capital, Rome, the Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Stephanie Williams to discuss the latest developments in Libya and efforts to move forward on the political track.

Al-Sarraj's media office said in a statement that Williams welcomed the commitment shown by Al-Sarraj to accomplish the elections on the date agreed upon in December. 2021, in cooperation and coordination with the United Nations.

In turn, Al-Sarraj reiterated that the Government of National Accord (GNA) harnessed all capabilities to enable the High Electoral Commission to complete the elections on schedule, reiterating that the success of the path of conflict resolution depends heavily on ceasing external adverse intervention in Libyan affairs.
