The Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has called on the Libyan authorities to make all efforts to release three of its citizens who were kidnapped by an armed group from a Man-Made River site last Friday.

In a statement, the DFA said that they are in contact with the Libyan authorities to locate and ensure the safe release of its citizens.

The Charge d'affaires of the Philippine Embassy in Libya clarified that unidentified gunmen stormed a site for the Man-made River System, 500 km from Tripoli, and abducted five foreigners, including three Filipino nationals, and four Libyans, before releasing one of the foreign workers and all the Libyans, while the three Filipinos are still abducted.
