The Presidential Council (PC) on Monday discussed the possibility of extending the powers presently held by municipalities and introducing a decentralization process in the country.
This discussion came during a meeting held by the PC with the Minister of Finance, Faraj Bumatari, and Local Government Minister, Milad Al-Taher, in Tripoli, according to a statement released by the PC’s Media Office.
“The PC discussed the expansion of powers to be transferred to the municipalities,” read the statement, with no further details.
The meeting also covered many observations noted and passed on by the municipalities regarding the list of regulations for fees and revenues of a civic nature, having been approved by the Ministry of Local Government, along with the process of its implementation.
