German Chancellor, Angela Merkel received on Tuesday the head of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj in Berlin to discuss developments in Libya.

"Merkel stressed the need to return to the political process and to resume negotiations under the United Nations' umbrella," German ambassador to Libya, Oliver Owcza explained via Twitter.

Merkel also welcomed the calls made by the United Nations Support Mission In Libya (UNSMIL) to a humanitarian cease-fire during the month of Ramadan and the need for humanitarian access, especially to immigration detention centres.
