The Chairman of Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj addressed the nation on Tuesday in the 68th anniversary of Independence Day, saying this year’s anniversary comes as Libyan Army forces are fighting to defend Tripoli from the aggression.

"The army is standing in the face of an invasion backed by external parties, who seek to murder freedom and destroy the dreams of the Libyan people in building a civil state," Al-Sarraj said.

He explained that the Government of National Accord (GNA) had warned against foreign intervention, saying that despite the complacency of the international community and its lack of response, "time has not run out".
