Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sannallah, warned that the NOC would not resume production operations or lift the status of force majeure on crude oil exports if the Presidential Council's government offers money to the militants involved in the closure of Sharara oil field for reopening the site.

In a letter addressed to the PC's head, Sanallah stressed that any attempt to pay money to those he described as armed militias who closed the oil field of Sharara, would set a dangerous precedent for the recovery of the Libyan economy, insisting that the money should be spent on investment projects in the local community, and to address the poor state of public services in the southern region.
