Customs at Misrata International Airport foiled Wednesday an attempt to smuggle an Ottoman-era Holy Quran out of the country.

According to Misrata Customs, the holy book was written 300 years ago in 1102 Hijri / 1690 BC during the rule of Sultan Suleiman II of the Ottoman Empire from 1687 to 1691.

The destination of the smuggler was not revealed, but it’s believed to be Turkey.
