The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that some 42,000 people have been displaced by the clashes in Tripoli since April 4.

The Office emphasized in its report that the continued indiscriminate shelling and air raids on residential areas is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, noting that access to food has become a major challenge for the people caught in the conflicting areas.

OCHA called on the international community to urgently allocate more than $ 10 million to meet the needs of the increasing number of displaced and conflict-affected people.
