The United States Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland said on Wednesday that his country had pledged in excess of $12 million to help tackle the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Libya.

He pointed out that this funding will be used to detect, prevent and control the spread of the pandemic, expressing his particular concern regarding the situation in Fezzan, in light of the rapid spread of the Coronavirus and the absence of public health infrastructure in most rural areas and communities.

These matters were discussed during a virtual meeting with the Director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Bedr Al-Din Al-Najjar and the Director of the NCDC Sabha branch, Abdul Hamid Al-Fakhri.
