The US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya Richard Norland urged members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) to work with the United Nations Support Mission (UNSMIL) in Libya to reach a consensus on the constitutional basis for holding national elections next December.

In a tweet on the US embassy's account Wednesday, Norland considered the December elections to be the best path for a legitimately elected and accountable government.

He emphasized that this would ensure stability and prosperity and enhance public services for the welfare of Libyans, as he put it.
