The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, met on Wednesday, with the US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, to discuss the latest Libyan political developments, as well as ways to support national proposals to achieve consensus of the political parties, in order to reach the elections.

“The meeting was confirmation that Libya is ready from a technical point of view to hold elections as Libyan voters demand. The only remaining obstacles are political in nature”, Norland tweeted.

During the meeting, Norland stressed the United States' support for efforts to complete the upcoming elections, praising the efforts undertaken by the HNEC in dealing with the previous electoral stages.

Norland conducted an inspection tour that included the HNEC operations room, training rooms, data entry center, support and assistance center, and media center, in order to check the HNEC preparations and the level of its readiness for the upcoming elections.
