The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has asked to be allowed to operate the Zueitina port immediately or to export one shipment to obtain storage capacities, warning of an environmental disaster at the port.

In a statement, the NOC confirmed that it is doing its best to solve all the bottlenecks it faces in storing the crude oil from the Abi Al-Tifl and Zueitina fields in the designated tanks at the Zueitina port as it needs constant stirring and heating, or else it will freeze, causing huge losses.

It also explained that it monitored leaks in the storage tanks of crude oil in the fields of Abi Al-Tifel and Zueitina, which caused a reduction in its carrying capacity, adding that whenever the height of the tank reaches a certain level, it leads to a higher weight of the crude oil, and then the bottom of the tank will not bear this weight and leakage begins to occur.
