Elders and dignitaries of the Western region have called on the House of Representatives and the High Council of State not to attend Geneva negotiations unless the terms of the ceasefire are fulfilled. They also insisted that figures that are to represent Libya in this forum are not to be chosen by Ghassan Salame, the UNSMIL's head.

The gathered called in a statement the Libyan and Turkish governments to work towards implementing the mutual defence agreement between the two countries.

They also stressed that no city has the right to schedule any meeting with external parties until the objective of the meeting is identified and after prior coordination with all cities.
