The Director General of the National Centre for Disease Control, Badr al-Din al-Najjar has convened a meeting at the center's HQ to discuss the outbreak of the new coronavirus disease in China, in the presence of representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Health Control Board.

The meeting discussed the mechanism for following up the precautionary measures taken by the center to reduce the risks of coronavirus spreading into the country, according to the center's Facebook page.

Al-Najjar assured steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Libya were already in place, adding "No cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been recorded in the country nor among the Libyan community in China."
