Niger and Mali have called for coordination between African and international initiatives to find a solution to the Libyan crisis in accordance with the aspirations of the Libyan people.

According to a joint statement issued at the end of a meeting between the two countries’ presidents in Mali, the two countries said it is necessary to find an early settlement to the crisis in Libya with respect for the country's sovereignty.

The two presidents expressed their countries' support for African and international initiatives to resolve the crisis, emphasizing the need for effective coordination between those initiatives.
