The spokesman for the Libyan Navy, Brigadier Ayoub Qasem, accused NGOs working to rescue illegal immigrants of infiltrating the sovereignty of the Libyan state.

Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children and CA have suspended their operations to rescue migrants off the coast of Libya, following the decision of the Libyan authorities to establish a search and rescue area in Libyan territorial waters.

This action will prevent foreign ships from carrying out missions to save migrants, with the exception of being at the request of the Libyan authorities.
