The head of the board of directors of the General Electricity Company in Libya (GECOL), Abdul Majid Hamza, stated on Tuesday that the Ubari gas station project is ready to prepare for the operation of the first electricity production units. GECOL stated on their official Facebook page that Hamza visited the company executing the project, which would generate an extra 600 megawatts to the network when implemented. The company said that their technicians are conducting preliminary tests using crude fuel, until the line connecting the station and the Sharara oil field is completed and will supply the generating station directly.

The Libyan national football team coach, Jalal Damjah, has summoned twenty four players for his World Cup qualifier with Congo on October 7th. The Libyan Football Federation announced on their official Facebook page on Tuesday that the game will be played at the Tunisian Monastir Stadium in the fifth round of the African World Cup qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.

The head of the Russian contact group on Libyan affairs, Lev Dengov, stressed that his country is not biased towards the leader of Dignity Operations in eastern Libya, Khalifa Hafter, in the Libyan crisis. Dengov stressed in media comments made on Tuesday that his country respects the arms embargo imposed on Libya, adding that there is no intention at this current time to lift the arms embargo on Libya. Dengov confirmed Moscow's readiness to combat terrorism, and cooperate with all those who wish to, adding that they support the empowerment of state institutions in Libya.

The Chairman of the High Council of State (HCS), AbdulRahman Suweihli, held a meeting on Tuesday with the governor and directors of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), to discuss the liquidity crisis and high exchange rate of foreign exchange. According to the media office of Suweihli, the governor of the CBL, Sadiq kabir, reviewed causes of the crisis and the most important obstacles to overcome. Kabir also put forward a package of proposals to resolve the crisis, stressing his intention to submit these proposals to the legislative and executive institutions in the coming period.

The Municipal Councils of Bent Bey and Alghrefa in southern Libya announced the suspension of work in all departments of the two municipalities in solidarity with the youth movement in the south named Kafa Samt or Enough Silence. The youth group had earlier announced their organization of civil disobedience in the cities of southern Libya in protest of the deteriorating conditions of living and service, in the southern region.

Libya Telecom Company, Hatif Libya, announced the return of telephone services as well as services of the mobile phone company Madar to the whole southern region starting from the town of Abugrain. The company announced yesterday that the main cable between Misrata and Abugrain was cut due to deliberate sabotage, resulting in the severing of communications in southern towns and cities.

A meeting was held at the Social Affairs Office in the city of Ajailat, which included a number of civil society organizations, the Office of Solidarity Services and the Red Crescent branch in the city. The meeting aimed at setting up a mechanism to receive internally displaced people (IDPs) from of Sabratha, which is witnessing bloody clashes over the past ten days. An emergency room that works to receive, shelter and provide the needy was agreed upon at the meeting.

Three children were drowned in one of the valleys in the area of Mizdah by a storm that caused a torrential downpour on the city. A hospital source said on Monday that the hospital received two bodies of children who drowned in one of the valleys as they were playing and swimming. The city of Mizdah and the neighboring towns of Nesma, Ras al-Tobal, Fisano and Shaqiqah have witnessed severe rainfall that has led to an overflow of many valleys last Sunday.

The Dean of Sabha University, Masoud Rafeq has confirmed that classes will resume on October 15th, addeding that the registration of new students will continue in different faculties of the university. Earlier, The University of Sabha issued a decision to suspend classes in various faculties due to lack of fuel and insecurity in the city.
