The Tripoli-based Al-Ahli Football Club has complained of the ill-treatment they received by members of the Special Deterrence Force in charge of Mitiga Airport protection on their arrival from Egypt on Tuesday.

The Minister of Industry and Economy of the Interim Government, Mounir Assar, has called on the leader of Dignity Operation, Khalifa Haftar, to intervene and permit flour enter the besieged city of Derna.  The Minister stated that the ban on flour supplies to the city over the months of August and September has caused a crisis in the most bakeries in the city.  Dignity Operation forces refused to allow trucks loaded with flour to enter Derna and supply bakeries last August, which has resulted in a large number of bakeries closing down, causing a humanitarian crisis.

In a meeting with Vice Chairman of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteeq, the Mayor of Al-Swani town, Shaaban Suissi, has called for the Security Directorate and its police stations within the municipality to be reactivated and put in duty.  Suissi called for coordination with the Central Bank of Libya to reopen banks in the town, so that citizens can withdraw their salaries, which in turn will help ease the pressure on central Tripoli banks.  The municipality of Swani has suffered from unstable security conditions since late 2014, which resulted in all banks operating in the town to leave for safer areas.

A member of the House of Representatives for the city of Sabha, Mesbah Owhaida, has denounced what he called the “dark hands” that prevented a southern delegation of sheikhs, dignitaries and ministers from travelling to the Italian capital of Rome after being stopped at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli. Owhaida stated on his official Facebook page that the people of the south have yet to find those who can reconcile between them in Libya, and that banning southern residents from travel indicates bad faith and obstructs future reconciliation and development in south Libya.

Colonel Mohammed Muhara, who is a member of what is known as the “ISIS Fighting Operation Room” in Sabratha has resigned from the group on Tuesday in protest against the continued fighting in the city. Muhara announced that he had stopped working for the group since yesterday, explaining that his resignation was because the destruction of Sabratha does not honor him, and he will not be the cause of the killing of its people. Meanwhile, a member of the Sabratha Municipal Council, Abu Qasim Karir, also submitted his resignation from the Council, expressing regret for what he pointed out as the silence of the Council regarding clashes taking place in the city. Local sources said a truce was reached on Wednesday after three days of heavy fighting.

A training workshop was held on Tuesday morning to prepare for the launch of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. The campaign will be organized by the Ministry of Health, the Libyan Federation for Combating Cancer and the General Authority for Culture. The workshop was attended by a number of physicians and specialists in obstetrics and gynecology in preparation for the awareness raising team, which will begin work from the beginning of October throughout different areas of the country for the sixth year running under the banner of “Campaign of One Million Women to Raise Awareness of Breast Cancer”.

A medical source at Al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi confirmed on Tuesday that three civilians were killed by a landmine explosion in the Sabri district. The source confirmed that the landmine exploded as the three young men entered a public building in Sabri, adding that they died on arrival at the hospital. A Chadian laborer had also died as a result of a landmine explosion near his residence in Sabri on the 7th of September.

The Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ibrahim Ghandour, confirmed that a decision by President, Omar Al-Bashir, has been made to reopen the Sudanese Embassy and permit the ambassador to begin his work from the capital Tripoli. Ghandour stated that this action emphasizes his country's support for a political solution between the various Libyan parties. Ghandour’s statement was made during his meeting with the Libyan Foreign Minister, Mohamed Sayala, in New York on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Libyan News Agency said on Tuesday that the two officials discussed developments on the political situation in Libya and the joint coordination between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.

Alwahat Police in charge of agriculture protection confirmed on Tuesday that they have managed to eliminate approximately 50% of the locust swarms attacking the district. According to the Information Office of the Police, Alwahat district is suffering from a lack of pesticides to control locusts, and the district has not received any support from the governments or neighboring cities to counter the locust invasion on farms and crops in the region, pointing out that they are facing the locust swarms with limited local efforts.

The head of the Bureau of Investigations in the Public Prosecutor`s Office, Siddiq Sur, stated that he had informed Interpol of the arrest of a group of people involved in the smuggling of fuel from Libya by sea. Sur elaborated, in a press statement, that most of the owners of the ships that were seized are located in Malta and Cyprus. He added that the Public Prosecutor`s Office is seeking to put a judicial guard on some of the fuel distribution companies, in addition to increasing efforts in appointing a guard on the Highway Services Company, which should help to eliminate fuel smuggling.
