The spokesman for the Libyan Coast Guard, Ayoub Qasim, has stated that non-government organizations that are actively saving illegal immigrants in Libyan waters are following agendas by using their influence to earn money. Reacting to Germany’s Sea Watch, Qasim said in a press conference in Tripoli on Tuesday that it is not the first time that Sea Watch had accused the Libyan Coast Guard of obstructing sea rescue operations, adding that the Libyan Coast Guard is in possession of video footage, obtained by a German TV station, which clearly depicts the crew of the Sea Watch obstructing rescue operations by the Coast Guard. Qasim clarified that the Libyan Coast Guard had rescued 80,000 illegal immigrants with basic equipment and means, calling on Europe to cooperate with and support the Libyan Coast Guard and the Libyan Navy by concluding bilateral agreements that would save more migrants and respect Libyan sovereignty.

The Military Intelligence service of Khalifa Hefter`s self-styled army has decided to enroll all members, equipment and vehicles of the Security Support Unit led by Salah Bolgheib to their service. The decision comes after a statement made by Bolgheib accusing the commander of Dignity Operation forces Khalifa Haftar of masterminding an assassination attempt on the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior of Presidential Council, Faraj Qaim.

The head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj, stated during a meeting with the Chief of Staff and leaders of his military establishment that the course of unification of the army will be completed successfully by means of a political consensus. Sarraj pointed out that for a unification to be successful, Libya needs to halt the actions of some political and military players that are continuously attempting to disrupt and undermine efforts to achieve this consensus. The meeting also discussed the findings of the PC committee at the Cairo meeting with their counterparts from the eastern region to discuss the unification of the military establishment in Libya and its relationship with the civil authority.

South Korea's ambassador to Libya, Kim Yong-chai, said in a meeting with the vice President of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maitiq, in Tripoli, that his country had taken serious steps to ease the return of their companies to resume projects in Libya. Chai said his country would send a number of experts to visit the sites of agreed projects, to assess the situation.

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos Operation declared on Tuesday that Sirte Security force had captured eight armed suspects who were attempting to steal electrical cables in the central Libyan region. The Information Office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos stated that the security forces of Sirte were subjected to minor injuries after being besieged for a short time then clashed with the armed group in the area of Jarif, adding that a large find of copper and electrical wires was in their possession.

The head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, held discussions with the Director General of the Libyan Company for Foreign Investment on the examination of the accounts of companies abroad on Monday. The company discussed all its contributions and profits during the past years and the current problems and obstacles facing them. They also reviewed the background of the resolution of the United Nations International Sanctions Committee and its direct and indirect effects.

A team from the Libyan Red Crescent, Misrata branch, recovered decomposed bodies buried in a school in Sirte, which was damaged by the war on ISIS last year. Fawzi Al-Fitouri, head of the Red Crescent team in Misrata, said the bodies had been recovered from the yard of a school after receiving information from the Joint Security Operations Unit on the presence of the bodies, likely to have been members of ISIS. “One of the bodies was found with an explosive belt still strapped around him, stressing that the body was handled with caution”. Al-Fitouri said.

The International Organization for Cooperation and Emergency Aid (IOCEA) held a coordination meeting with the Sabratha Municipal Council to provide humanitarian assistance to illegal immigrants on Tuesday morning. The non-governmental organization stated on their official Facebook page that discussions were held on reunification efforts to provide humanitarian services to displaced people and illegal immigrants as a result of the recent clashes in Sabratha. IOCEA is working to provide care and humanitarian assistance to the migrants in the shelters in all Libyan cities in cooperation with Italian and international NOGs.
