Tripoli University has announced the launching of a sports club under its own name in a ceremony held at the university two days ago. The Head of the Tripoli University Club, Eyad Al-Misrati, said the sports club will be officially on the sports scene in the coming days and will take part in 6 group games.

The Minister for Education, Othman Abdel Jalil, inspected the damage that effected schools in the Abu Salim municipality as a result of the clashes that took place there over the past few days. Abdel Jalil was joined by the Minister of Local Governance and the Mayor of Abu Salim in their tour of the area which covered two schools that sustained the worst damage, Halab and Tahreer schools. In a statement, Abdel Jalil said that his ministry is continuing to work in coordination with the Municipality of Bu Salim in preparing engineers reports for all educational facilities affected by the clashes and preparations would be made to begin maintenance on them before the start of the next academic year.

The head of the Presidential Council of the UN proposed government, Fayez Sarraj, welcomed a delegation from the city of Hun on Tuesday at the headquarters of the council in Tripoli. The delegation included the President of the Municipal Council and a number of members of the Council of Elders and civil society organizations. The delegation briefed Sarraj on the reality of recent events on the ground in Jufra and the city of Hun in particular. The delegation explained how the city’s infrastructure was severely damaged including a large number of public and private properties as a result of recent Egyptian and Dignity Operation air strikes.

The Board of Administrative Control revealed that some public companies were buying goods from the local market with foreign currencies instead of the Libyan Dinar. The Board warned officials of all parties that the value of goods and services should be complied with in Libyan Dinar in all transactions within the market in order to preserve the value of public money of the Libyan state. The Board also indicated in a publication made that they will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone who proven to be in violation of legislations and regulations that are in force and will take disciplinary action and criminal prosecution in accordance with the law.

The Classic Chess Tournament, organized by the Sidi Khalifa club and supervised by the Benghazi Chess Federation, will kick off on Wednesday evening and the competition will continue for seven consecutive days.

The commander of military forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar in the western region, Idris Madi declared the decision to form a military battalion under the name of Battalion 68, to be stationed in the city of Khoms, 120 km east of Tripoli. Madi stated that the Battalion will be led by Arif Mawal.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced NATO's agreement to advise Libya on building defense and security institutions during a telephone conversation with the head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj. In a telephone call, Stoltenberg said, "The alliance strongly supports the Libyan political agreement and the government that represents it.”

A festival, launched in the Market Square of the Old City in the city of Derna named Ramadan Nights will include poetry and story evenings as well as scientific and artistic seminars, exhibitions, sports and popular games and competitions. The festival is to last throughout the holy month of Ramadan and supervised by the Office for Culture and Civil Society in cooperation with other institutions, all under the auspices of the Red Crescent Society and the City Scout Commission.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has appealed for 75.5 million Dollars in international aid to help refugees and asylum seekers in Libya. The UNHCR clarified in a statement made that the funds would be allocated to basic services, asylum seeking procedures and the freedom of movement. The head of the commission Filippo Grandi said that his mission in Libya was urgent and that he can only carry it out in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.
