The head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, told the Italian news network AKI that Libyan oil production has tipped to an output of 808 thousand barrels per day. Sanalla added that the NOC is expecting that number to rise to over one and a quarter million barrels per day by the end of 2017.

The media outlet, Ein Libya has learned that Ismail Wild Sheikh is the most likely candidate to replace Martin Kobler as head of United Nations support mission in Libya (UNSMIL). Wild Sheikh is currently the head of the United Nations mission in Yemen, after also being a former deputy to Tarek Mitri the former head of UNSMIL.

The energy company, GF-USA, submitted a proposal to the Municipal Energy Committee of Zliten for the construction of a 230-megawatt power plant. The presentation came at a meeting of the Energy Committee with the representative of the company in Libya on Tuesday in the Municipality Hall. Following the meeting, the Committee reached out to the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the General Electricity Company Abdul Majeed Hamza, who is based in Tripoli, to discuss the problems that continue to hinder the electricity sector in the municipality.

The High National Elections Commission has declared the opening of 219 new electoral centers as part of its preparations for the presidential and parliamentary elections, which are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2018. The President of the UN proposed Presidential Council had announced the date of the elections after his meeting with Khalifa Hafter in the UAE just over a month ago.

The Committee tasked by the High Council of State to negotiate amendments made to the Libyan Political Agreement has stated that new developments on both the Libyan and international political scene have reflected on its mission to communicate and meet with the Committee representing the House of Representatives. The Committee also stated that they were attempting to finalize a mutual consensus on limited amendments to the political agreement that would address some of the problems encountered in its original implementation in order to reach a long lasting political solution to the current crisis.

A fire broke out in the battery room in the second unit of the Gulf Electricity Power Plant in Sirte. Sources at the electricity company said the fire was caused by a technical fault, adding that the fire had since been fully extinguished.

The Zintan Municipal Council held talks with French Ambassador to Libya, Brigitte Curmi along with the accompanying delegation on Tuesday to discuss ways of cooperating in both economic and cultural aspects. The Municipality of Zintan said on its website that the purpose of the visit is to encourage French companies to return and complete their contracted projects and to ensure the safety and stability of the situation within the municipality.

Members of the High Council of the State and representatives of the southern region within the House of Representatives stated on Monday their intention to establish a new political bloc. The head of the new political bloc, Naji Mukhtar, said they agreed to establish a political body, which is made up of the political elite from the southern region. The aims of the bloc is to begin moving in the direction of lifting the suffering on the people of the south and to rapidly resolve both security and economic issues experienced by the region.
