The member of the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) Nadia Omran said the Tripoli Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the administrative judiciary is not specialized in appeals lodged against the CDA. Omran added that such a ruling renders the CDA-drafted constitution plausible and ready to undergo referendum. Meanwhile, Al-Bayda Appeals Court ruled for the suspension of referendum on the constitution based on a challenge lodged by some CDA members.

Chief of Derna Security, Brigadier Yahya Omer, has accused Dignity Operation forces of allowing the flow of narcotics such as marijuana and Hashish into the city, adding that the same forces are preventing the entry of fuel, gas, food and medical supplies. On his personal Facebook page, Omar stated that this evidence came to light after a group of drug dealers were arrested by security forces in Derna. “After investigations, one of the drug dealers handed over 900 narcotic pills and a quarter of a kilo of marijuana, as well as money and weapons.” He concluded.

Libya's Ayad Alkhayir Association, funded by the World Food Program (WFP) in Libya, sent humanitarian aid to displaced families from Tawergha and Sirte in the municipality of Tarhouna on Tuesday. Sirte Municipal Council spokesman, Mohammed Al-Amil said in a press statement that Alyasser Association handed out the aid packages to the needy in Tarhouna. Al-Amil added that the convoy arrived in Tarhouna, containing basic food and goods rations, indicating that the number of families who benefited from the aid reached 600, including 100 families from Sirte.

The committee set up to monitor prisons in Misrata municipality, announced on Tuesday that it has completed its work on the evaluation of prisons, noting that the number of detainees in prisons within the municipality does not exceed 150. The committee stated at a press conference that in previous times, the number of prisoners had reached 2900. The numbers of prisoners declined after authorities resorted to releasing prisoners before reaching the term ordered by the judiciary, adding that those released include those who spent three quarters of their sentence or others on health reasons. The commission added that they followed the cases of military detainees accused of suppressing 17th of February revolutionaries in the Sakat prison, noting that local and international organizations, including Human Rights Watch, visit the prisons periodically.

The Dean of Benghazi University, Maraei Al-Maghorbi, announced on Monday evening that the university's board of trustees decided to drop the resignation at the request of the students to avoid any delay in the educational process. This came after a meeting between Benghazi security chief, Wanis Boukhamada and Al-Maghorbi that also included heads of the different university faculties to discuss the decision by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education regarding the dismissal of the Undersecretary of Scientific Affairs, and the assignment of a new person. The decision to resign, announced by the board of trustees two days ago, was as a result of their denouncement of what was described as interference of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in the Interim Government in terms of the running of University affairs.

The Department of Monitoring and Rapid Response of the National Center for Disease Control has warned of cases of Salmonella in children under six months of age. The Department said in a statement on their official Facebook page that they had received a warning from the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) that children in France had been affected by Salmonella as a result of ingesting milk products produced by French diary producer Lactalis. The Libyan monitoring department reported that this type of milk is in fact distributed on the Libyan market, calling for any cases related to the bacteria to be reported.

Foreign Minister pf Presidential Council, Mohamed Siyala, briefed the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, on the latest developments in Libya, according to the Libyan Foreign Ministry’s Information Office. The meeting took place on the sidelines of their participation in the meeting of the Ministerial Conference of the International Alliance to Counter ISIS, which was held in Kuwait. Siyala and Tillerson also discussed recent arrangements for the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Libya this month on the prevention of the sale of stolen cultural artifacts from Libya in the United States and the beginning of a process to retrieve stolen Libyan artifacts and returned to their native Libya.

The Director of Kufra Airport, Omar Qandil, stated on Tuesday that Kufra Airport remains closed due to problems with the runway. Qandil confirmed in a press statement that air traffic continues to flow at the airport, but stressed the need to urgently repair the runway so that flights to and from the airport are not cancelled. He explained that maintenance contracts were signed in the past worth 95 million dinars, but as a result of the security situation in Libya, none of these contracts were implemented. He noted that the Airports Authority allocated 5 million Libyan dinars to maintain the runway, but they are waiting for companies to come forward with their offers so that they can choose the best. Kufra Airport was reopened last March after two years of closure due to security problems.

Libyan economist and founder of the Libyan Stock Market, Suleiman Shahoumi, has attributed the rise in the dollar price on the black market to non-Libyan currency traders who are holding Libyan currency on the borders, and that the current confusion in the market may be leading them to get rid of their dinar stock. Shahoumi stated on his Facebook page that the Central Bank of Libya is well able to cover the demand for foreign currency. He expressed optimism that the dinar value would be improved, saying that the currency traders should know that the price of currency that rises by speculation will inevitably collapse and that the most important issue now is the decline in the price of commodities and food stuffs, which will in turn improve the ability of citizens to face inflation.
