Ittihad defeated Shat 2-0 in their first match in the Premier League for the 2017-2018 sports season, which was held on Tuesday night at Tripoli International Stadium in the first week of the third group matches. Ittihad scored their two goals through their striker Mohammed Tabal, the first in the ninth minute of the first half and the second in the twentieth minute of the second half. This result gives the team their first three points, while Shat remain with no points as yet after their first week.

A large meeting was held on Tuesday evening regarding security in Tripoli, which included a number of members of the Directorate of Security in Tripoli, the Committee for Sports Security and the General Intelligence and the General Directorate of Central Security. The meeting aimed to raise efficiency of security personnel during upcoming Libyan Football League matches. Points discussed at the meeting included instructions on how security personnel should carry out their duties at a stadium, especially during riots in order to maintain safety for spectators inside and outside the stadiums. Approval for the attendance of spectators to the games is yet to have been announced.

The head of the Sahara Bank at the Sirte branch began distributing cash to customers for the first time in more than 26 months on Tuesday. The bank received cash to the value of one and a half million Dinars. Cash is continuing to reach banks in Sirte with the exception of Al-Wahda bank, which is still under maintenance.

In a statement issued after a meeting held in Benghazi yesterday, the Mayors of municipalities in Benghazi, Abiar, Ajdabia, Kufra, Sahel, Abraq and Qmenis all called for a reinstatement of elected Municipal Councils in accordance with the law. The seven Mayors explained that the Municipal Councils resulted from a purely democratic process, adding that there is no question of their legitimacy. The Mayors concluded that after Hefter's forces have taken control of Benghazi, there is no need for military rulers who were appointed by the military commander Abdul Razeq Nadori instead of elected Mayors.

The High Council of the State denounced the continuing siege on the eastern city of Derna calling it a crime against humanity in a statement made on Tuesday. The High Council called on the Presidential Council to take the necessary measures needed to lift the siege on civilians suffering from a lack of all basic needs. In a statement made by the High Council they called on the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to shoulder their responsibilities in lifting the siege on the city of Derna unconditionally, in order to provide all necessary humanitarian needs and assistance to civilians.

The Administrative Control Authority has set up a supervisory committee to monitor the supply of Eid sacrifices to help ensure that there is no manipulation or exploitation that may lead to Eid sacrifice prices rising this year. The Undersecretary of the Administrative Control Authority confirmed the necessity of full coordination by all branches of the Authority and their offices at sea ports. These actions should speed up the process of livestock reaching civilians at the right time and at the prescribed price.

Twenty two illegal immigrants from Morocco and Algeria were rescued by the Libyan Coast Guard on Monday. The immigrants were aboard rubber boats in Libya's territorial waters off the coast of the western city of Zawiyah. The Libyan Coast Guard has appealed to the Moroccan authorities to fulfill their promises regarding illegal immigrants who wish to Return to Morocco voluntarily and willingly through Matiga International Airport so that they can be reunited with their families before Eid Al-Adha.

Sources in western Libyan city of Zuwara stated that the Ras Ajdir border crossing between Libya and Tunisia was closed on Tuesday. The closing of the border came following a protest organized by the people of the Ben Qardan area who demanded the lifting of fees imposed by the Libyan authorities. Sources added that passengers from both sides of the border were prevented from crossing, with the exception of humanitarian cases.

The Afriqiyah Airways Company has pledged to transfer two million Dinars to the account of the Libyan Company for Handling and Ground Services to help solve the problem of delayed salaries to employees of the company. The head of the airline company in the Benghazi region, Shamakh Barasi, stated on Tuesday that the company is taking this step as an act of compassion as Eid al-Adha is due soon, The Handling Company at Benina Airport stopped all flights on Monday due to a strike by employees of the company.

Former Prime Minister Ali Zidan was released on Tuesday after 9 days of detention in Tripoli. Zidan was arrested on August 14 by an armed brigade loyal to the UN-installed Presidential Council at Victoria Hotel in Dahra district “on the basis of an old arrest warrant issued by the Office of the Attorney General”. No further details were given, but his family confirmed that he is safe and well. On Monday, the head of Presidential Council, Fayaz Sirraj, promised to work for his release during his meeting with a tribal delegation from the south, Ali Zidan's place of origin.

A media contest that was launched by Tajoura Radio in the past few months entitled "media creations" announced the final results on Sunday. The organizers focused on young children, small of age but with big ambitions, to recognize, award and encourage talented children to be future leaders. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the contest in the presence of several members of the municipal council headed by the Mayor, Hussein Bin Atia.

At least 10 Dignity Operation fighters were killed in an ISIS attack on Al- Fugaha checkpoint in Al-Jufra region, central Libya, on Tuesday. Local sources said ISIS fugitives, who are regrouping in the region and in the valleys of Bani Walid town, attacked the checkpoint late at night, leaving 12 fighters dead and one wounded. “The ISIS militants also set the checkpoint and all the military vehicles on fire before escaping”. The sources added. Dignity Operation took control of Al-Jufra region last June.
