The forces of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos are preparing for the final and conclusive battle with the IS militants in their last hideouts in Sirte, where they will raid residential area 3 and the Sea Buildings in the coming hours, said one of the commanders of the Misrata-led forces, adding that the battle will kick off after the areas seized Tuesday are fully secured especially the residential area 2 and parts of 1.

The spokesman of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, has denied the news that said IS militants broke out of the city of Sirte. Anadolu News Agency reported Al-Ghasri as saying that IS terrorists have been besieged from all frontlines since the end of last May and have not yet been able to break free.

An official at the southern region confirmed that an officer from the unit tasked to secure Gwera Al-Mal checkpoint between Sabha and Al-Shatea was killed and two others were injured in an attack by unknown gunmen Tuesday, adding that the injured officers are now in Sabha Medical Center.

The US airstrikes on IS positions in Sirte have reached 48 since the start of August. The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) said Tuesday that its fighter aircraft carried out those 48 air-raids targeting IS positions and vehicles in Sirte.

The Head of Al-Khumus Urgent Power Plant, Ali Al-Yaseer, said the plant will join in the electricity general network very soon and will add about 525 megawatts to it.
