Libyan coast guards in Tripoli rescued Monday 121 illegal immigrants who were found aboard a rubber boat off the coast of Garabulli district, east of Tripoli.

The migrants were from 10 African nationalities, including 95 men, 12 women, and 14 children, according to the Libyan Coast Guard Information Office.

After providing humanitarian and medical assistance, the rescued migrants were taken to the Sikka Road Shelter of the Illegal Immigration Agency in Tripoli.

Authorities in Bomba town in east Libya confirmed the recovery of another body belonging to a crew member of an Egyptian trawler that sank off Ras Al-Tin district, some 50 km east of Derna, a few days ago.

Captain of the Coast Security Agency of Tobruk, Abdul Salam Al-Fayidi, clarified that the body was transferred to the morgue of Tobruk Medical Center in order to take the necessary measures.

A body of another sailor was recovered earlier this week by the Coast Guard who handed over the body to the Egyptian authorities through Salloum crossing border.

The Egyptian trawler was carrying fifteen Egyptian sailors before it went missing a few days ago in Ras Al-Tin district. Only five of the crew were rescued, while search for the missing sailors is still continuing.

The Tawergha Detainees and Missing Persons Association announced that the IDPs of the town will start their return towards their town from various parts of the country on Thursday.

The Mayor of Awjila Municipality met Monday with a coalition of renewable energy companies to review the possibility of establishing and activating solar plants in the town.

The discussion included how to take advantage of the natural resources in Awjila and to incorporate it into the Municipal Council project of the spatial development of the town.

The participants agreed to hold more future meetings in order to address the presentations proposed by the private companies group and means to make them operational, in addition to avail themselves of its services in terms of energies, staffing, and investment.

The coalition of renewable energy companies group is regarded as a bridge of communication between the private sector and the Libyan municipalities for the development of energies.

Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, received Foreign Minister of Presidential Council, Mohamed Sayala, on the sidelines of the 30th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries besides other issues of common concern, according to the Information Office of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Abdul Salam Ashour, held an extensive meeting with the mayors and security chiefs of the western and mountain region, in presence of the chairman of the Board of Directors of Brega Oil Marketing Company and the Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee.

The meeting focused on ways to stop the ongoing fuel smuggling and the need to coordinate with the relevant authorities in order to reduce this phenomenon and alleviate the crisis on the citizen.

In a statement to local news sites, Ashour said that the meeting agreed on a series of measures to tackle this phenomenon with the support of the Ministries of Defense, Interior and the security managers at the borders.

The participants also agreed to form a follow-up committee composed of the mayors and security managers for pursuing the process of distributing fuel in coordination with the crisis committee of Brega Oil Company.

The African Union (AU) heads of states and government elected Libya as First Deputy Chairperson of the AU during the 30th AU Summit in Addis Ababa, state-run Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported.

LANA said the post constitutes a political achievement for Libya and supports its position on the African and regional levels as a significant country with considerable weight on the African continent and the Arab world.

Libya was also elected Vice-Chairman of the AU Ministerial Follow-up Committee on Agenda 2063.

Member of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ziad Dagaim, has criticized the swearing-in ceremony of Mohammed Al-Shukri as a new governor of the Central Bank of Libya by the HoR in its Monday session.

Dagaim told local media outlets that the swearing in is violation of the political agreement and a provocative act to the High Council of State as a partner of the political process.

He expressed his surprise by the misconduct of HoR MPs on what he called unilateral acts that do not hold any realistic or international values.

He pointed out that this step will lead to “burning Al-Shukri's card” and make him appear as a governor of a particular party instead of representing one unified banking institution.

The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanallah has revealed that Libya’s ability to rebuild its oil production is going to be impeded by the ongoing constraints on the state oil firm's budget.

Sanallah told a Chatham House conference in London on Tuesday that the NOC received only 50 percent of its capital expenditure budget from the Libyan government in 2017.

The member of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) Jaballah Al-Shibani, has been the talk of the town in Libya over the last 24 hours after he described the Libyan February revolution of 2011 as "a disaster."
