The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sannallah, met on Tuesday with Schlumberger Regional Manager for North Africa, Ziad Bin Hammad, at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli.

The meeting discussed Schlumberger's plans to expand their presence in Libya and future efforts of the company to make equipment related to development and exploration more available.

Medium-term plans to increase production in 2018 were also discussed.

Those present also discussed the future contribution of Schlumberger through workshops to be held between the two parties to study aspects related to drilling techniques and various industrial lift methods.

The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj, headed the General Assembly of the Libyan African Aviation Holding Company for the year 2018 on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed the financial report on the company, as well as the selection of the chairman and members of the board of directors of the company and the selection of the chairman and members of the audit board.

Other topics discussed at the meeting were the general performance of the company and ways to improve future development.

The Zuwara Coast Guard rescued 100 illegal immigrants from different nationalities off the coast of the city.

The commander of Zuwara Coast Guard, Mansur Tor, said that the immigrants were on board a wooden boat that was capsized off the city.

Tor added that some of the illegal immigrants were of Moroccan and Algerian nationality as well as Somalis, Eritreans and Libyans.

Earlier, the Libyan Navy spokesman Brigadier General Ayoub Qassem said that 324 illegal immigrants were rescued, including 32 Libyans off the coast of Zuwara.

Dignity Operation armed groups shelled the western area of the city of Derna, causing panic among local residents.

Chief of Security Forces in Derna, Yahya Omar, said that Dignity Operation forces stationed in Ayn Marrah shelled the area with rocket-propelled grenades without causing any human casualties.

Omar added that the shelling caused panic among civilians living in the residential neighborhoods, but luckily without causing any material damage.

Dignity Operation forces have been gathering around the city of Derna and tightening their grip on the city`s inroads since last August, preventing residents from importing essentials like medicine, food and fuel as part of their siege of the city for more than two years.

.The President of the High Council of State (HCS), Abdulrahman Suweihli, held discussions with the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame, on Wednesday.

The two officials discussed developments regarding the political situation and the United Nations’ action plan on Libya, as well as proposals to amend the political agreement by bringing the HCS and House of Representatives back to the table of discussions.

Those present at the meeting, which was held at the HCS headquarters in Tripoli, also discussed the security situation in the country, especially in Tripoli and the south.

Suweihli called for the implementation of security arrangements that are contained in the political agreement and to consider this a top priority to establish security and stability and provide the necessary conditions for state institutions to work without pressure and carry out their duties towards the citizens of Libya to the fullest.

Suweihli appreciated efforts of UNSMIL to help alleviate the suffering of Tawergha IDPs in Qararat Qatif and their efforts to rebuild trust between Misrata and Tawergha to accelerate the implementation of the reconciliation agreement between the two cities.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Siyala, along with the Libyan Ambassador to Romania, met with Romanian Prime Minister Victoria Dancila, in Bucharest on Wednesday.

The Media Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting with discussed the process of reviving agreements between the two countries.

The Media Office also noted that the development of bilateral relations between the two countries comes after great cooperation carried out by the Libyan Ambassador in Romania with the Libyan community and civil society organizations based there.

Human Rights Solidarity urged in a statement on Thursday the Saudi Arabian authorities to release the Libyan detainees, calling on them to abide by the International Humanitarian Law.

The HRS also called on Libyan and international legal organizations to aid it in its plea to the Saudi authorities that will begin in accordance with the start of Human Rights Council's 37 summit so that it could make the council familiar with the case of Libyan detainees in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi police arrested three Libyans from Al-Zawiya city on June 26, 2017 at Jeddah Airport as they were returning home after finishing Umrah rituals.
