The Interior Minister of the UN-proposed government has sent a letter to the International Committee of the Red Cross calling for assistance in evacuating the stranded people in Ganfouda, western Benghazi, via the sea to Tripoli. The letter explained that among the stuck people there 126 families – 18 of which are foreign – and including 400 children as well as 130 prisoners, who were at the military police jail before clashes broke out.

The military governor of the eastern region, Abdulraziq Al-Nathori, has ordered the formation of a temporary administrative committee for the Libyan Airlines Company with a head and four members. The Libyan Airlines Company is now split into two administrations – in Tripoli and in Al-Byada.

The new commander of the so-called Omar Al-Mukhtar Brigade, which is besieging Derna, Yousif Al-Mansouri, ordered the shutdown of all the roads of the northern entrance to Derna, saying only teachers, students and critical patients can pass through those roads after a list of their names is provided.

The EU said the number of refugees crossing the Mediterranean from Libya to Italy has been remarkably increased this year in comparison with this time last year, saying the reasons are yet unknown, but maybe because the human traffickers have started putting more people on the boats bound to Europe.

The spokesman of the Libyan Navy, Ayoub Qasim, said the coastguards had intercepted two dinghies with 300 migrants on board, adding that most of them were African and Bangladeshi, including five women.

Some political and law activists withdrew from the UN-brokered National Reconciliation Conference session in Tunisia on Thursday over the attendance of Presidential Council representatives, saying this move aims at politicizing the reconciliation project and is, therefore; a violation of the schedule presented by the UN.

Libya’s Mufti, Sadiq Al-Ghryani, hailed the reopening of the coastal road that links Tripoli with Al-Zawiya, saying it is a very positive step, as it would end the problems people used to face while cherishing passing by the road. The Mufti added that the agreement struck by the people of Al-Zawiya and its neighboring districts is an opening for stabilizing Libya, calling on all Libyans to stand united against the bandits and against anyone who wants to destabilize the country.

Sudan is making huge efforts and is contacting many Libyan authorities – such as Sudan’s consulate in Libya - aiming to provide a safe passage for the 85 Sudanese nationals trapped in Ganfouda, Benghazi, the expatriate department at the Sudanese Foreign Ministry revealed. A Sudanese official also denied that his country’s nationals in Ganfouda are being used as human shields, saying they are stranded due to the clashes along with other people of different nationalities. He added that many have been reportedly killed in the airstrikes on the district.

The Security Force in Al-Kufra is besieging a group of Sudanese rebels with 15 vehicles, sources pointed out, adding that after clashes with the group, three Sudanese gunmen were killed in Wadi Al-Faregh, Al-Kufra. The sources indicated that Sudanese rebels continuously kidnap residents from public places and streets in order to receive ransoms for their release.
