The Libyan Football Federation has set the beginning of December as the next date for the start of the Libyan Super Cup for the sports season of 2017 - 2018. The Organizing Committee of competition stated that according to Article (18) of competition regulations, the participation of clubs whose teams play in the Premier League is compulsory, while the participation of clubs whose teams play in the second and third divisions is optional. The date for the draw is yet to be announced until the participating clubs are confirmed.

The management of Ubari gas-fired power plant has stated that work is under way to complete projects and work on the plant and they will begin installing high voltage equipment over the next week. The management said on Wednesday that they had installed the internal control system and loading equipment at the 220 KV Ubari transformer station. The management also requested that companies executing the project should expedite the process of the plant and increase the frequency of work by adopting certain systems, which allow linking of the plant to the electrical grid as soon as possible.

The Maltese Foreign Ministry began on Wednesday conducting internal investigations over the forgery of one of their officials for documents helping to smuggle Libyan oil to Italy. The Times of Malta reported that the ministry has already begun an investigation into this matter, although there is no confirmed information yet. According to the newspaper, the documents were initialed by two technical officers of the Maltese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which cleared the path for the smuggling of Libyan fuel through Malta to Italy.

Landline, mobile and internet connections have been cut off from the area between Al-Washka east of Misrata and the Thalatin area west of Sirte, State-run telephone company, Hatif Libya, reported. According to the Libyan news agency (LANA), sources in the company were quoted as saying that the interruption of communications in the area, which extends for approximately 70 kilometers, is due to damage to the transmission towers as a result of the war on ISIS last year, in addition to theft and vandalism of equipment of towers along the coastal road.

Fighters of Derna Shura Council repelled Wednesday an attack by Omar Mukhtar Operations Room of Dignity Operation in Dahr al-Hamr area, south of Derna, on Wednesday. Dignity Operation field hospital announced the death of the commander of Awlia Dam (blood owners) brigade, Faraj Zaidan, in addition to five others being wounded. The media office spokesman of Shura Council, Mohammed Al-Mansouri, denied the killing or wounding of any of their forces in the clashes. The clashes took place on Wednesday morning and lasted for approximately five hours, during which Dignity Operation forces used heavy artillery under the air cover of helicopters, yet failed to make any progress on the ground.

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) said in a statement on Wednesday that an economic and financial reform program was reached at the Economic Dialogue Forum with all concerned parties. The CBL stressed that any programs or reforms must be agreed upon by all relevant legislative and executive government institutions. The seventh session of the Libyan Economic Forum was held in Tunis last week with the participation of representatives from the House of Representatives, the Presidential Council, the Audit Bureau and other relevant institutions.

The Dean of the University of Tripoli, Dr. Nabil Al-Natah, appointed on Wednesday Dr. Faten bin Rajab as the Head of the College of Human Medicine (CHM). Dr. Bin Rajab officially assumed her duties as the first woman to hold this position in the history of the university. Dr. Bin Rajab previously held the position of the Head of the Children`s Department at the CHM before her recent assignment as top official of the CHM.
