Derna Shura Council has mourned the military chief of the council Jadallah Al-Mansour who died from injuries he sustained in a road accident two days ago.

Tripoli-based Foreign Ministry remained closed on Thursday in protest against Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala’s recognition of Khalifa Haftar as “the Commander-in-Chief of Libya Army.”

Speaker of House of Representatives Aqailah Saleh received Thursday in Qubbah town, eastern Libya, the AU High Representative for Libya Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. Both sides held talks over ways to resolve the country’s political crisis.

Misrata Political Bloc, a group of politician and MPs, has denounced Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala’s recognition of Khalifa Haftar as “the Commander-in-Chief of Libya Army.”

The Bloc said this recognition would undermine local and international peace efforts and plunge the country into a civil war.

Head of UN-installed Presidency Council Fayaz Sirraj met in Tripoli with pro-Libyan political agreement members of House of Representatives. The meeting discussed ways to go ahead with the agreement and overcome obstacles facing it.

The Libyan coastguards rescued Wednesday 400 illegal immigrants off Sabratha shores as they were journeying on a wooden boat to Italy across the open sea. Libya has become the main route for African migrants to Europe since the start of the chaos in 2014.
