Amna Amtair, a member of the committee tasked with amending the political agreement in the High Council of the State (HCS), has slammed the UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, accusing him of obstructing long awaited meetings between the delegations of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

The Prime Minister of the eastern government, Abdullah Al-Thanni, issued a statement on Wednesday ordering interior and intelligence apparatuses to arrest the minister-designates of the UN-proposed government in the areas under the eastern government’s grip.

The German Foreign Minister, Sigmar Gabriel, arrived on Thursday in Tripoli and met with the Head of the UN-proposed government's Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj.

The UN proposed government made a ruling to go ahead with plans to establish a University in Ajdabya. The university is to consist of many faculties including engineering, literature, science, education, medical technology, economics, political science, law, medicine, science, applied resources and information technology. The government has also issued their decision to establish universities in Sabratha, Jafara and Bani Walid recently, bringing the total to four new universities planned for the near future.

The Municipal Council of Misurata announced that they postponed the visit of French Ambassador Brigitte Curmi and her accompanying delegation that was scheduled to arrive there on Thursday 08 June. The Council posted on their official Facebook page: "Although the Council recognizes the importance of the visit by Mrs. Brigitte Curmi, and her accompanying delegation to the Municipality of Misrata to meet with our institutions and entities, and our pleasure of her acceptance, unfortunately the visit will be postponed until later for security reasons”.

The Interior Ministry of the UN proposed government announced that they would deport a number of illegal immigrants to their countries of origin after being held in camps for the shelter of illegal immigrants in Libya. The ministry posted pictures of Colonel Mohamed Bashir, director of the Illegal Immigration Control Agency on its Facebook page, Bashir is depicted overseeing the deportation, which took place on Tuesday at the international airport of Matiga.

The Misrata-Tawergha Committee categorically denied any news spread on social media relating to the return of Tawhraghan IDPs to their city, saying that they are not aware of any agreement finalized for their return. The committee added that any party taking any action regarding the IDP file outside the scope of the agreement signed between the parties without the committee's knowledge is responsible and bears sole responsibility. Some media outlets reported that the Returning Tawergha Arrangements Committee was preparing to launch an initiative for the return of displaced persons under the name of "Within Tawergha is security" and the deadline for launching the initiative is Ramadan 20.

The Presidential Council of the UN proposed government announced the formation of a committee to address the crises experienced by the city of Tripoli in a statement on Wednesday. According to the statement, the committee is to work in coordination with all public bodies and relevant executive bodies in order to develop solutions and remedies for the crises experienced by the capital. The Committee is obliged to submit monthly reports on the progress of its work to the Presidential Council in accordance with article 5 of the resolution. The committee is composed of the Mayor of Sooq al-Jumaa as the chairman of the committee, members of the municipalities of Ain Zara and Abu Salim, representatives from the Tripoli Municipal Council Nasser Kariwi, and the Tripoli authority represented by Rateb Mabrouk. The third article of the resolution stipulates the right of the committee to seek assistance from those it deems necessary to carry out its duties whilst article four of the resolution specifies the duration of the committee's work at six months, which can later be extended by a decision made by the Presidential Council.

Libyan News Agencies in Tripoli have quoted sources from the Directorate of National Security of Asabaa stating that the security personnel were able to detain three trucks loaded with a large amount of motor engine oils intended for smuggling. The source said that the trucks seized were “Carrying large quantities of motor oils and after interrogation the drivers admitted that they were intended for smuggling outside of Libya". Sources also confirmed that the seized trucks and their drivers after interrogation were referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action to be taken against them.

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Wednesday evening that a committee would commence their obligations in investigating the cause of death of one of their workers at the Sharara oil field. The NOC stated on their Facebook page that the commission will begin their work immediately and investigate the incident of Ibrahim Dau drowning in the Sharara oil field swimming pool. The NOC further explained that the investigation committee will look at the circumstances surrounding the incident, the speed of the response to the incident and how long it took ambulance and rescue crews to arrive at the scene.

A new group of engineers and workers for the Turkish company Enka Technik who are contracted at the Obari Gas Powerplant arrived yesterday. Those who arrived were estimated at 126 engineers and technicians bringing the total number at the site to approximately 550 to accelerate the completion of various works, each according to his own experience and qualifications.

The head of the United Nations support mission in Libya, Martin Kobler stressed the urgency for Libyan army officers from all over the country to meet and discuss military matters. Kobler stated in a post on Twitter that the United Nations is ready to facilitate such a meeting.
