The Director of Grassroots Political Consulting LLC, Daniel Faraci, has stated that the commander of Dignity Operation forces, Khalifa Haftar, has contracted the company to promote both himself and his family in the United States. Faraci stated in a tweet that he is proud to represent the Haftar family with the US administration to achieve what he called their vision in the rebuilding of Libya. In earlier statements, the former political adviser to Haftar, Mohammed Buiser, said that Khaled Haftar signed a contract last November with Grassroots to polish the family name in the US Congress and gain the support of Congress members to his cause.

A number of Sirte residents called for the urgent release of necessary financial compensation for the damage caused to their property during the liberation of the city from ISIS. In a statement on Wednesday, the citizens called on the Presidential Council to make a decision for the compensation of the affected houses and the payment of any rent paid by the residents. The statement also demanded the Ministry of Social Affairs to address the citizens’ needs, especially those who have lost their homes and for the provision of their basic necessities.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has repatriated 140 illegal migrants voluntarily to Guiana via Misrata International Airport. The operation was organized in cooperation with the shelters of Illegal Immigration Agency in Zuwara, Abu Issa in Zawiya and Misrata. The IOM announced that some 18,000 migrants have been repatriated since the beginning of 2017 from various Libyan airports, the last of which was carried by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees when 129 illegal immigrants were repatriated to Niger on Sunday.

The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NCO), Mustafa Sonallah, has declared that the repairs of the oil pipeline, which was exposed to an explosion on Tuesday, will take approximately a week to complete. Sonallah said in a press statement on Wednesday that the explosion will not have much impact on the marketing program, but only some small changes. Sonallah also said that the damage was estimated between 30 and 35 meters of the 24-inch pipeline. The NCO expected oil production to fall from 100.000 to 70.000 bpd.

The General Directorate of Coast Security of the Ministry of Interior intends to send 20 trainees to Italy for two months for theoretical and practical training in marine diving and rescue operations at an advanced level by the end of next January. The Director of the General Directorate of Coast Security, Tariq Shanbour, said the decision came within the framework of the joint cooperation between Libya and Italy, and in accordance with the agreements signed between the two countries in combating illegal immigration and smuggling.

The Libyan oil tanker, Anwar Libya, arrived on Wednesday at the port of Tripoli with 34,000,000 liters of fuel. The Brega Oil Marketing Company said that unloading operations started immediately after docking, and then the fuel was sent to distribution companies that supervise the management of gas stations in the country. Brega also pointed out that supplies to the Tripoli oil depot through Al-Zawiya oil depot is continuously pumping, reassuring citizens that fuel is available in all depots and there is no need to create long queues at petrol stations.

The Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League of States, Hossam Zaki, confirmed that the Libyan crisis can be solved. Zaki told Wednesday the journalists accredited to the Arab League that the 2017 statistics show that Libyans themselves want a solution but there are obstacles and those obstacles need Arab and international consensus to reach a solution. He noted that the Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, will continue cooperation with the Arab League envoy in Libya on a regular basis, adding that Aboul-Gheit will visit Libya in 2018, and that there are strong international efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis.

Dignity Operation forces declared Thursday that the military operations in Sidi Kriebiesh district in central Benghazi were over. Dignity Operation confirmed it has taken full control of the Balidi Hotel and the surrounding areas and are currently conducting a thorough search in the district. Local sources confirmed the withdrawal of the Shura Council of Benghazi forces from Sidi Kriebiesh, explaining that clashes broke out following the pull-out of Shura fighters in the village of Al-Fwateer, west of the city, killing 5 of Dignity Operation fighters and wounding 7 others. The Commander of Dignity Operation, warlord Khalifa Haftar, announced last July what he called the liberation of the entire city of Benghazi and the end of military operations.
