The EU Trust Fund for Africa adopted Wednesday a €90 million program to step up the protection of migrants and reinforce migration management in Libya, upon proposal from the European Commission, a press release by the European Commission indicated.

147 African immigrants have drowned after their inflatable boat capsized off Libya’s western shores on Thursday, Libyan Coast Guard has reported. The Coast Guard said the victims included 77 men, 55 women and 15 children.

Turkish visa for Libyan nationals will start processing from the capital Tripoli, the Consular Section of the Turkish Embassy announced on Thursday, after more than a year of processing the visa from its consulate in Misrata.

Eastern government of Abdullah Al-Thanni denied that its spokesman Abdelhakim Matoug had been abducted, saying he was sacked for bad performance. The government added that Matoug was referred to the Attorney General's Office for reluctance to cooperate with the handover of power committee, including refusing to hand over a car because he wants to sell it before leaving Libya.

About 100 illegal migrants have been reported as missing off the Libyan coast near Tripoli on Thursday, reported Reuters citing the spokesman of the Libyan Navy forces, Auoyb Qassim. "23 migrants were rescued from the boat off Gargarish, a western suburb of Tripoli." Qassim told Reuters on Thursday.

The Head of the Presidential Council of Libya, Fayez Al-Serraj, received Wednesday from the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General and UN Resident Coordinator (UNSMIL) for Libya, Maria do Valle Ribeiro, in Tripoli, titles for ten ambulances for Sirte. The ambulances, ready to be deployed to Sirte, are part of a US$ 7.6 million package of rehabilitation and equipment aimed at rehabilitating critical infrastructure and improving service delivery in the city hit by the conflict in the country.

Central Bank of Libya said its Governor, Al-Sidiq Al-Kabeer, is going to hold a press conference soon to talk to the public about all the facts related to the monetary policies and the current uncertainties amid the fragmentation taking place across the country nowadays. The step aims to let Libyans citizens be aware of the CBL's work mechanisms and assure them that their assets and reserves are firmly stable amid the current instability and low oil revenue. It said he will also respond to the attempts to create chaos on the scene in Libya by certain entities.

Chairman of the Commerce, Agriculture and Industry Chamber in Tobruk, Ibrahim Al-Jarari, warned of a looming economic calamity that is closing by in Libya if no swift actions have been taken to rescue the Libyan dinar, urging on TV the Tobruk HoR to hold an emergency session to help contain the current increase of the dollar against the dinar at the black market.

Man-Made River administration has announced that for the first time in its history there are 193 non-working water wells distributed over three water fields, saying 190 wells need some equipment from abroad. It also urged the authorities to take a stand and provide the river system with the needed support to keep water supplies flowing across Libya.
