The Presidential Council has issued a statement condemning the "heinous crime" and the "horrifying act" that led to the wholesale killing of 36 persons after being tortured then tossed on the road in Al-Abyar district in Benghazi.

The residents of the desert town of Jikharra held a protest on Saturday outside an office for the Wintershall Holding GmbH demanding the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and the German oil producer to implement their promises to the town people on development projects.  In a statement made by the residents, they demanded the NOC to grant the town people access to jobs as agreed with the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation during his visit to the town, in addition to the need to implement the recommendations of the 1st Environment National Conference, as well as the treatment of chronic diseases within the town. The protesters threatened to close oil wells within the farms and housing schemes if their claims were not met.

The National Center for Arts and Heritage of the General Authority for Cinema, Theater and Arts in Libya, is to host the Libyan Forum for Fine Art between March 24-26. The committee supervising the forum announced that it is currently working on certain preparation as setting a date for receiving pictures, invitations and participation requirements.

Hatif Libya Company announced on Saturday the interruption of the fiber optic cable in the city of Bani Walid because of acts of sabotage. The company confirmed that the damage led to the interruption of the company's communications within the town, noting that maintenance work is underway by specialists to restore the communications. The cable was targeted at a distance of 6 km from the cable chamber, according to a report from the Libyan News Agency.

Spokesman of Dignity Operation Ahmed Al-Mismari said that Libyan military officers are to meet Sunday, October 29, in Cairo under the auspices of Egyptian Army Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy. Al-Mismari told Italian News Agency AKI that the meeting, which is the third of its kind, comes in to complement the previous meetings in order to "unify the military establishment in Libya," adding that they intend to form a unified military council or body that includes all military members away from "politics", as he put it.

The National Center for Disease Control announced on Saturday the launch of the national immunization campaign against polio, measles, rubella and mumps in all vaccination centers in Libya under the auspices of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund. The campaign will target children under the age of six, and will continue until next Thursday, according to the Center's page on Facebook.

The management of the Man-made river project said on Saturday that it had been given permission to start pumping water to the Libyan cities after the project's system was halted for more than ten consecutive days. The management was undergoing a maintained work when an armed group loyal to the former regime threatened to stop water supply to Tripoli in order to respond to their request of releasing one of relatives detained in Tripoli.   According to the management, the operation of wells began immediately after receiving the order, referring that the water will be back to normal to all areas in turn, no later than two days.

The World Health Organization office in Libya handed over Wednesday 20.000 hemodialysis machines to the Ministry of Health, which the Ministry had contracted to purchase from Belgium with the support of the World Health Organization. The WHO paid approximately 300,000 euros to cover the cost of shipment and freight costs. According to the WHO, the supplies will cover the need of all dialysis centers for three months, and will be distributed under the supervision of the ministry to all the centers and departments of dialysis in Libya.

The Tripoli-based Ministry of Justice has expressed concern over the recent incident of discovering 36 bodies dumped near the town of Abyar. In a statement on its Facebook page, the Ministry condemned all extrajudicial killings considering it a form of terrorism, adding that this apposes and contradicts the prospects of the Libyan people to establish a state of justice, law and respect for human rights. It said that it had ordered all the competent authorities, primarily, the Public Prosecutor's Office, to investigate immediately into the crime that drew shock and anger across the nation, expressing its willingness to unfold the incident and bring those responsible to justice in order to consolidate the concepts of the state of law. 36 unidentified bodies were found last Thursday with signs of torture and gunshots in the Dignity Operation’s stronghold town of Abyar, 50 km to the east of Benghazi.
