Sabratha hosted Saturday the preparatory meeting for the upcoming Libyan municipalities meeting which starts Sunday with 35 municipal councils attending.

A soldier was killed and two others wounded in an attack on Al-Jibs checkpoint for the Infantry Brigade 301 of the Libyan Army in the southern gate of Tripoli on Sunday.

“The response to the Italian intervention in the Libyan waters will be strong”, spokesperson of Dignity Operation, Ahmed Al-Mismari, has threatened. The parallel Libyan News Agency in the eastern region quoted Sunday Al-Mismari as saying that Khalifa Haftar-led army will not accept the division of Libya and the foreign agendas in it.

The head of the Committee for the Constitution Drafting Assembly, Noah AbdulSayed, asked his members to hold a meeting on Sunday to re-vote on the draft constitution. This comes after a siege by gunmen on the headquarters of the committee took place when the results of the vote became apparent showing that members approved the draft by 43 votes out of 44 votes. AbdulSayed said in a statement that the re-vote is the desire of the masses and he invites members to meet on Sunday morning to re-vote, threatening to apply any due regulations to those who decline. This all comes on the backdrop of Gunmen loyal to Khalifa Hafter storming the headquarters of the Committee and assaulting it's members, then taking AbdulSayed to an unknown place then released shortly afterwards.

The media coordinator of the Omar Mukhtar Operations Group, AbdulKarim Sabra stated that the body of one of the pilots of the warplane that was shot down over Derna is located in the city's Harish Hospital. The body will be handed over to the Red Crescent in Derna to hand it over to authorities in areas under the control of Dignity Operations. It was announced by Derna Shura Council fighters that the pilot of the plane, Colonel Adel Jahani, died of injuries sustained while fleeing from the aircraft.

The National Committee for Human Rights in Libya has expressed their deep concern over the armed attack on the headquarters of the Committee for the Constitution Drafting Assembly in Bayda and the detention of some members of the committee on Saturday evening by armed men. The human rights committee stressed their condemnation in a statement, saying this armed attack should not have taken place as the security apparatus should ensure that members of the commission are protected and not exposed or targeted in any form by violence or threats.

The Spokesman for the Security Directorate of the eastern city of Marj, Capt. Ahmed Massmari, said that the Directorate launched an initiative to collect any kind of weapons from citizens on Saturday. He added that the security department of Marj is ready to receive any kind of heavy, medium or light weapons as well as explosives of all kinds in the citywide gun collection campaign.

The first Benghazi-host Libyan conference on pharmacy practice was launched on Saturday at the Medical Colleges Complex, at Benghazi University. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Benghazi University, Benghazi Medical Center and the Greater Benghazi Pharmacists Syndicate. The conference aims to promote good pharmacy practice, and included was the participation of sixteen scientific researches and forty researchers from different Libyan cities.

Derna Shura Council fighters said that their special forces carried out secret operations yesterday in response to the repeated airstrikes on the city. The Special Forces fighters targeted three vital points of the Dignity Operation Forces which resulted in the deaths and injuries in Dignity Operation ranks and the seizure of a number of vehicles and ammunitions. The Derna Shura Council fighters had targeted a military barracks known as Kasara, 35 km southwest of the city of Derna, and another site known as Madrasat Ardam 40 km south east of Derna, and a final attack in an area known as Hajjaj Heela, 42 km south-west of Derna. The fighters of the Derna Shura Council targeted three tanks and seized 4 vehicles equipped with heavy weapons and a large number of medium and light weapons.

The human rights watchdog, Human Rights Watch (HRW), reported that human rights activists have been physically assaulted, detained, harassed and kidnapped by armed groups, some of whom belong to government authorities in Tripoli and elsewhere in the west of the country. The organization's executive director for the Middle East and North Africa stated on the organization's official site that there are militias and armed groups working with a mentality of "you are either with us or against us," in pursuing activists, bloggers and media, which has prompted many activists to leave the country and silenced others.

The Libyan national football team will leave Tripoli on Sunday for Alexandria to play a friendly match with the Egyptian national team for local players next Friday. The match will be held at Burg El Arab Stadium at 8:00 pm in preparation for the Algerian team on August 12 in Constantine, which is a qualifying match for the 2018 African Nations Championship finals in Kenya.
