Several Derna residents have objected to the appointment of Brigadier General, Hamad Al-Shalwi, as a mayor to the city, saying that there is an elected civilian municipal council in the city.

The Head of the Crisis Committee at the Misrata office of Libya’s Red Crescent (LRC), Salah Buzariba, said the LRC volunteers retrieved over 70 bodies from Sirte in the last ten days, confirming that 65 of them were for IS militants, who were air attacked by the US warplanes on January 19 in southern Sirte.

The Central Bank of Libya said it launched Sunday the Foreign Currency System that will be tasked to register applications across Libya for buying the 400 dollars for every family member in the accounts of the family bread owners. It said the applications will be at the banks where the bread owners of each family have valid bank accounts, adding that the transactions will remain open till the end of 2017.

First flight from Ghadames airport will take off on Tuesday after the reopening of the airport, which was shut down three years ago. Ghadames municipality said every Tuesday, there will be a flight from Gahdames airport to Mitiga airport in Tripoli.

The head of the vaccination department at the Health Ministry, Abdelbasit Asimo, said the medical supplies department will import children vaccines after much efforts had been exerted by the ministry and the Central Bank of Libya as well as the Audit Bureau aiming to avoid falling short of the vaccines like in 2015. He said the vaccines will arrive in Libya in three weeks.

Parallel Central Bank of Libya in Al-Bayda sent 8 million dinars to commercial banks in western Libya. The head of the liquidity committee, Ramzi Al-Agha, said the money, which arrived in Zintan airport, is the monthly cash sums that are sent to Western Mountain areas and coastal areas as well as Tarhouna and Garabulli.

Algerian Defense Ministry said it is going to raise security alerts in all the borders with Tunisia and Libya as it had depicted a movement of some groups on those borders. Tripoli Security Department shut down all the roads leading to the Martyrs Square as precaution measures to secure the participation of people in 17 February revolution sixth anniversary next Friday. It also prohibited the use of tents or stages inside the Martyrs Square, asking people to stick to the program of the ceremony committee, which will see celebrations inside the square and its parks.

Libyan National Oil Corporation said it had imported the MRI device for the National Institute for Tumors Treatment in Sabratha in cooperation with Italian Eni Oil Company. The NOC said this step is part of the sustainable development programs and the social and moral responsibilities of the foreign companies in Libya, adding that it hopes this support would help increase the quality of medical services in the Sabratha institute.

Efforts to build Women and Children’s Hospital, with a capacity of 222 beds, in Sabha are underway so that the residents of the city and its suburbs can make use of its services. A member of the supervising commission said the plans have been completed and they will lay the founding stone of the hospital very soon so that it becomes the first of its kind in the south.
