Hatif Libya Company announced Saturday the return of international telecommunication lines between Tripoli - Musaid after the maintenance work carried out on the fiber optic cable in Egypt’s Sallum village by the Egyptian side. On its Facebook page, the company explained that the interruption was due to the breakdown of the fiber optic cable between the two border towns of Musaid and Sallum. The communications in Libya continue to disrupt in some cities intermittently, the latest was in Sabratha and Surman cities because of the interruption of a fiber optic cable in the area of Dahman district.

Tribal elders, community leaders, members of the municipal councils, politicians and civil society organizations from the southern region have agreed to a charter of peaceful coexistence and reconciliation in Fezzan region, under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. Participants at a three-day forum in Tunis agreed on a set of principles around which local and national reconciliation could be structured. The participants stressed the pivotal role of Fezzan in the Libyan political and social scene, hoping that their region will become a symbol of future reconciliation. They also pointed out that initiatives submitted to end tribal wars in Fezzan over the past six years had failed to build a firm peace.

Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayaz Al-Sarraj, said that he had urged both dialogue parties from Misrata and Tawergha to accelerate return of Tawerghan IDPs to their hometown according to the agreement signed between the two sides. Sarraj expressed to Tawergha protestors outside his office on Saturday his hope to implement this agreement, noting that this will require a responsibility spirit on the part of all. He clarified that he began coordinating with the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministries of Defence and Interior to secure the appropriate environment for their return. Tawergha protestors gathered outside Al-Sarraj’s office demanding an urgent action for their return. They accused the Presidential Council of failure to speed up the process of their return despite the promises it had made.

The Municipal Council of Tajoura has called its citizens to document the damage caused by the heavy rains by filling out the relevant forms and submitting them to the authorities. The Council called via its Facebook page the citizens affected by flooding or landslides to communicate with their representatives, each according to his area in order to fill out the forms relating to the damage. Earlier, Tajoura Mayor of, Hussain Bin Attia, declared the municipality a disaster area after main roads were closed and houses were flooded due to the heavy rainfall.

The university guards at the Medical Colleges Complex of Benghazi University announced on Saturday that classes are to be suspended until further notice. Local media revealed that the suspension of classes and closing the headquarters of the colleges came against the backdrop of an attack by an armed group on the university guards, where members of them were physically assaulted and beaten. Activists in the social networking sites have confirmed the reports of armed clashes inside the medical college campus, which led to the evacuation of the complex and the suspension of classes without disclosing any information of the causes or the parties involved.

A joint meeting was held on Saturday between representatives of the Ministry of Health and United Nations medical and relief organizations to discuss providing support to the health sector in Libya. The meeting was attended by officials from the planning, pharmacy and human resources departments of the Ministry of Health, and from the international side representatives of the International Rescue Committee, the International Organization for Migration and the International Medical Corps. The two sides discussed the mechanisms and means of supporting international organizations to the health sector in Libya by providing medicines and equipment, supporting the shelters of migrants, running medical convoys and the maintenance of some health centers.

A security official from the force in charge of securing Sirte city confirmed that the force had found a mass grave in the neighborhood of Al-Manara, known as the Kambu area near downtown. The official explained that the grave was found following a report received by the force from a local citizen. After arriving at the site, the forces found a mass grave containing more than twenty bodies of who were likely to be ISIS fighters. He added that the bodies have not been recovered yet. Al- Manara was subject to the most intensive fighting between Al-Bunyan forces and members of ISIS, before defeating the group in the city in December 2016.
